He emphasized that the land of Chittorgarh embodies power, devotion, sacrifice, and austerity.
“Here, tales of bravery are etched in every grain, history is present in every stone, and the unquenchable fire of sacrifice burns in every pebble. Today, we have gathered not only to pay homage but to vow to instill the spirit of valour and sacrifice in our lives,” the Chief Minister asserted during a ceremony organized by Jauhar Smriti Sansthan in Chittorgarh.
He noted that Chittorgarh Fort stands as a symbol of national identity and Sanatan culture, remarking that this is the sacred land where Kshatriya warriors considered it their fortune to die.
“Even the state emblem of Mewar reflects social harmony through the image of the tribal representative,” he added.
A controversy erupted in Rajasthan after Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Ramji Lal Suman made comments against Rana Sanga, the 16th-century ruler of Mewar, prompting sharp criticism from the BJP in Rajasthan, where Rana Sanga and his grandson Rana Pratap are held in high esteem.
The Samajwadi Party MP stated that Rana Sanga invited Babur into India to defeat the Lodhi king.
On Monday, BJP MLA Shrichand Kriplani condemned Ramji Lal Suman in the Assembly for his remarks. However, Congress MLA Harimohan Sharma objected to the criticism.
Raising slogans against the Congress, BJP MLAs questioned why the “insulting” remarks about Rana Sanga cannot be addressed in the house.
Vishwaraj Mewar, a former royal from Mewar, also criticized the SP MP for his comments.
He mentioned that such statements are misleading the public and attempting to create a division in society.
Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat referred to the controversy as a “distortion of history”.
