Clashes Erupt in Hyderabad Between BJP and Congress Over Ramesh Bidhuri's Comments on Priyanka Gandhi

Hyderabad, Jan 7 (NationPress) Heightened tensions were evident in the Nampally region as clashes erupted between BJP and Congress supporters amid a protest led by Congress against BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri’s offensive comments about Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi made during a recent electoral rally in the national capital.
In response to the BJP leader’s statement regarding “smooth roads like Priyanka Gandhi’s cheeks,” Youth Congress activists attempted to surround the BJP office.
The atmosphere grew increasingly volatile when BJP supporters retaliated.
Protesters began throwing stones at the BJP office, while BJP members responded with sticks. Several individuals sustained injuries during the confrontation.
Law enforcement quickly arrived at the scene to disperse the conflicting groups.
Subsequently, BJP Yuva Morcha members attempted to encircle the Congress headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan, further escalating the situation. They arrived in two factions to protest, dismantling barricades to approach Gandhi Bhavan and tearing down banners of Congress leaders displayed at the entrance. Numerous BJP leaders participated in the demonstration.
In protest of the attack on their office and chanting slogans, BJP supporters blockaded the road, disrupting traffic.
Police intervened, employing batons and detaining numerous protesters, who were taken away in police vehicles.
As the offices of both parties are in close proximity, law enforcement faced significant challenges in managing the activists from both sides.
The police cordoned off routes leading to the BJP office.
Meanwhile, Union Minister for Coal and Mines and state BJP president G. Kishan Reddy condemned the assault on the BJP office, warning that if the Congress party continues such actions, it could have serious repercussions.
Kishan Reddy accused Congress supporters of attacking the BJP office in the presence of law enforcement, emphasizing that violence has no place in a democracy.
He alleged that police displayed partiality and questioned the Hyderabad Police Commissioner on how he would justify their actions.
