Who got hired — and where they will serve

The single largest chunk of Sunday's batch belongs to Punjab's Health and Family Welfare Department, which absorbs 636 new recruits. The bulk of those are 614 Staff Nurses — a direct injection into the state's public healthcare network. The remaining health-department slots go to 13 Multi-purpose Health Workers (Male), 3 Pharmacists, 2 Ward Attendants, 1 Class-IV employee, and 3 Sweepers.

Beyond healthcare, 101 candidates join Sugarfed — the Punjab State Cooperative Sugar Mills Federation — while 57 Junior Auditors, 51 recruits in the Defence Services Welfare Department, 11 in the Cooperative Department, and 10 Law Officers in the Home Department round out the batch. Diverse departments, one ceremony: the optics are deliberate.

Mission Rozgar and the four-year hiring push

Since sweeping to power in the March 2022 assembly elections, the AAP government has used Mission Rozgar as its flagship employment drive — a structured effort to fill sanctioned but vacant posts across Punjab's bureaucracy through what it describes as transparent, merit-based recruitment. Repeated public letter-distribution events, held in cities like Mohali, serve both an administrative and a political function: they put a face to a number.
