In his post, Sharma wrote — 'Kargil yuddh ke nayak, amar balidani evam Param Vir Chakra se sammanit Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey ji ki jayanti par unhe vinamra shraddhanjali!' — translated as: 'Humble tribute to Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey, hero of the Kargil War, immortal martyr and recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, on his birth anniversary!' He added that Pandey's indomitable courage and supreme sacrifice for the motherland would continue to inspire national service for generations to come.

Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey served with the 1/11 Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army. During the 1999 Kargil War, he led assaults on Jubar Top and Khalubar in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir, displaying extraordinary bravery in the face of enemy fire. He was killed in action and was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest wartime gallantry decoration, reserved for the most conspicuous acts of bravery in the presence of the enemy.
