CM Fadnavis: Disrespect Towards Constitution Will Not Be Accepted

Nagpur, Dec 16 (NationPress) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated on Monday that any disrespect towards the Constitution will be firmly rejected and called on the opposition to avoid politicizing the desecration incident in Parbhani.
During the first session of a week-long winter assembly, he noted that the desecration was perpetrated by an individual with mental health issues, and the authorities have already taken necessary actions against him.
“The disrespect towards the Constitution is unacceptable. The individual responsible for this was mentally unwell. I urge the opposition to contribute constructive suggestions to prevent such incidents in the future rather than engaging in politics,” CM Fadnavis stated.
He was addressing the assembly following a query from Congress member Nana Patole, who had introduced the newly appointed ministers.
The opposition also highlighted the murder of a Sarpanch in Beed district, demanding severe actions against the perpetrators. They asserted that the situations in Parbhani and Beed are grave and require the government’s decisive intervention.
“The events in Beed and Parbhani are extremely serious. The government is taking the murder of a young Sarpanch in Beed very seriously. A police inspector has been placed on compulsory leave, and the in-charge PSI has been suspended. Three individuals have been arrested in Beed. Although some suspects are currently evading capture, they will undoubtedly be apprehended,” CM Fadnavis assured.
Previously, Patole called for an extensive discussion regarding the incidents in Parbhani and Beed. Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar indicated that the discussion would occur at a suitable time but not on this day, as a condolence resolution would be prioritized.
In the Upper House, Opposition Leader Ambadas Danve also brought up this matter.
He insisted that the three absconding suspects involved in the Beed Sarpanch murder case be captured promptly and called for a comprehensive investigation and stringent consequences.
Meanwhile, on the opening day of the winter session, the opposition staged a protest against the use of EVMs in elections, chanting slogans against it. The protest was spearheaded by Ambadas Danve, along with former Assembly opposition leader Vijay Wadettiwar and other legislators from Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and NCP (SP).
They chanted slogans such as “EVM Sarkar Hi Hi” and “EVM Hatao Lokshahi Bachao.” Danve also criticized the administration for prohibiting villagers from Markadwadi from conducting mock polling to contest alleged EVM tampering and misuse during the Assembly elections. Wadettiwar stated that the government must transition to ballot voting instead of EVMs.
