Ahmedabad, March 20 (NationPress) Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel of Gujarat stated on Friday that the Sindhi community has significantly contributed to the state’s progress while maintaining its unique identity. This announcement came during the launch of a Lord Jhulelal procession to celebrate the Cheti Chand festival in Ahmedabad.
Before inaugurating the procession in the Naroda Patiya area, organized by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and the Cheti Chand Mahotsav Committee, Chief Minister Patel conveyed his best wishes to the Sindhi community.
In his address, he remarked, "Cheti Chand is a revered festival honoring Dariya Dev, aligning with the auspicious timing of Chaitra Navratri."
He recognized the Sindhi community's attributes of bravery, diligence, and entrepreneurial spirit, which have been evident in various sectors including trade and commerce.
Reflecting on the community's historical journey, he remarked, "The Sindhi population, having migrated from Sindh, embraced Gujarat as their motherland and karmabhoomi (workplace). They have managed to uphold their language and cultural identity while integrating seamlessly into the state's culture, akin to sugar dissolving in milk, thereby playing a pivotal role in Gujarat's advancement."
He emphasized that this faith embodies the essence of "Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat" (One India, Great India).
Chief Minister Patel further highlighted the significance of such religious and community gatherings in ensuring that future generations remain connected to their traditions and heritage.
Additionally, he encouraged the community to actively participate in initiatives launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, such as "Catch the Rain," "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam," and "Swachh Bharat."
Naroda BJP MLA Payal Kukrani noted that the Sindhi community migrated from Sindh to safeguard their religion and culture.
"Since then, they have made India their home while contributing immensely to national development," she added.
Numerous senior ministers, local leaders, spiritual leaders, and a large audience were also in attendance.
