Jaipur, April 17 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Bhajan Lal Sharma, stated on Friday that the residents of West Bengal are disillusioned with appeasement politics and rampant corruption, claiming that under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's leadership, the state’s progress has come to a standstill.
While speaking at a Marwari community gathering in Siliguri, Sharma asserted that public assets are being misappropriated and illegal immigration is being encouraged.
In contrast, he emphasized that the BJP is committed to "integrity, transparent policies, and swift development".
He highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India's international standing has notably improved, and the nation is moving forward at a rapid pace.
"The citizens of West Bengal have made their choice clear. The BJP will secure a substantial majority in the upcoming government here," he declared.
Sharma praised Rajasthan's rich cultural heritage, referring to it as a "land of Shakti and Bhakti", and reminisced about influential figures such as Meerabai, Maharana Pratap, and Surajmal.
He also acknowledged Siliguri's spiritual significance by mentioning sites like the Sevakeshwari Kali Temple and Siddheshwar Shiv Temple.
The Chief Minister commended the Marwari community for their global charitable initiatives, highlighting their efforts in founding hospitals, educational institutions, cow shelters, and various social services.
Sharma pointed out several key Central government programs, including 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao', Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, emphasizing their benefits for women, farmers, and marginalized groups.
He also stressed the significance of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam in promoting women's involvement in the nation's development.
Discussing infrastructure, the Rajasthan Chief Minister mentioned major projects under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, which include a 520-km Greenfield Expressway linking Gorakhpur to Siliguri, a six-lane highway from Kolkata to Siliguri, and the modernization of Bagdogra Airport, all of which are expected to enhance trade and tourism in the area.
Sharma outlined Rajasthan's advancements, asserting that the current BJP-led state administration is delivering on its electoral commitments across various sectors such as water supply, electricity, industry, and job creation.
He also highlighted efforts to conserve historical structures, especially the Havelis of the Shekhawati region, while fostering tourism.
Earlier on Friday, CM Sharma participated in a vibrant roadshow supporting BJP candidate Shankar Ghosh from the Siliguri Assembly seat, which drew a large crowd.
Supporters warmly welcomed the Chief Minister, who was met with enthusiastic cheers and slogans throughout the event.
He urged voters to ensure a decisive win for the BJP candidate.
Local leaders and many expatriate Rajasthanis were present at the gathering.
