Jaipur, December 2 (NationPress) Rajasthan's Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma had a significant meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Parliament House on Tuesday. This meeting comes ahead of a scheduled cabinet meeting on Wednesday, indicating its political weight in Rajasthan.
During their discussion, PM Modi received a formal invitation to participate in the inaugural Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas Sammelan, set to take place on December 10 in Jaipur. This event is part of the state's pledge made at last year's Rising Rajasthan Investment Summit to celebrate this day annually.
The Pravasi Rajasthani Sammelan aims to unify Rajasthanis residing in India and overseas, recognizing their valuable contributions.
Scheduled at the JECC auditorium, this event follows Prime Minister Modi's earlier inauguration of the Rising Rajasthan Summit on December 9, 2024.
As the state government marks its second anniversary this December, discussions were also held regarding celebrations reflecting two years of effective governance.
The meeting has sparked speculation about a potential cabinet reshuffle in the state. Sources suggest that Chief Minister Sharma briefed the Prime Minister about the proposed changes and possibly sought his approval.
Sharma took his oath on December 15, 2023, with his council of ministers following on December 30, 2023. However, despite nearly two years in leadership, cabinet expansions and political appointments are still outstanding.
With similar activities happening in Madhya Pradesh and previously in Chhattisgarh, insiders within the party believe that Rajasthan may soon witness substantial ministerial and political appointments, potentially mirroring the extensive cabinet restructuring seen in Gujarat in 2022.
A cabinet meeting is set for Wednesday, December 3, at 3 PM at the Secretariat, followed by a Council of Ministers meeting at 4 PM. This marks Sharma's second visit to Delhi within five days, the first being a meeting with Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri concerning the Barmer Refinery.
While the inauguration of the refinery was initially planned for the government's second anniversary, it has reportedly been delayed. Sharma also visited Delhi on November 13, leading to significant bureaucratic changes, including the replacement of Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant with B. Srinivas.
