Jaipur, June 21 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Bhajan Lal Sharma, engaged in a yoga session amidst the breathtaking sand dunes of Jaisalmer district on Saturday.
He remarked that 180 nations worldwide are observing Yoga Day.
"This reflects the dedication and research of our ancient rishis who celebrated our Sanatan culture and highlighted its importance. Maintaining good health has always been an integral part of Indian tradition. A healthy populace leads to a healthy nation and state, ensuring progress," he stated.
He also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for significantly promoting yoga globally.
"I extend my thanks to PM Narendra Modi for his efforts in introducing yoga to 180 countries worldwide. This day carries profound significance," he added.
Numerous public officials, administrative members, BSF personnel, women, students, and community members joined CM Sharma in committing to a healthy lifestyle through various yoga asanas.
For the occasion of the International Day of Yoga, CM Sharma chose the scenic Khuri sand dunes in Jaisalmer for the yoga event.
The Khuri sand dunes are located approximately 40 kilometers southwest of Jaisalmer.
Recognized as one of the most beautiful and untouched areas in the expansive Thar Desert, it provides numerous ideal spots for tourists to experience the mesmerizing sand dunes in India.
As Rajasthan's state-level festivities unfolded against the backdrop of Jaisalmer's stunning sand dunes, hundreds participated alongside Chief Minister Sharma in performing yoga at the Khuri dunes.
After the event, the Chief Minister visited the revered Tanot Mata Temple.
However, the weather conditions adversely impacted Yoga Day celebrations in several districts, including Bharatpur, Pali, Bhilwara, Udaipur, and Kota, leading to last-minute venue adjustments.
In Chittorgarh, heavy rain limited the yoga practice to just 15 minutes. Meanwhile, a young girl in Bundi amazed the crowd with her aerial yoga performance using a rope.
A large-scale event was also held at SMS Stadium in Jaipur.
The gathering included Governor Haribhau Bagde, MP Manju Sharma, Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa, BJP State President Madan Rathore, and numerous other leaders and public figures.
The Governor led the attendees in a pledge to integrate yoga into their daily routines.
