Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, inaugurated two major urban infrastructure projects in Dharamshala — a redeveloped Fountain Chowk built at a cost of ₹70 lakh and a two-storey e-bus charging depot and maintenance centre constructed at a cost of ₹11.90 crore at the old HRTC (Himachal Road Transport Corporation) premises, both developed under the Dharamshala Smart City Limited.

Sukhu posted on X, sharing that the projects were inaugurated as part of ongoing smart city development in Dharamshala. In Hindi, he noted: 'फव्वारे और शहीद-ए-आजम भगत सिंह जी की प्रतिमा का पुनर्स्थापन' ('the reinstallation of the fountain and the statue of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh'), alongside the integration of the Ramlila stage and the fountain area into a unified plaza. The revamped Fountain Chowk now features modern lighting, wall murals, seating facilities, and a variable messaging system.

The old HRTC depot site has been transformed into a two-storey electric bus charging and maintenance hub, representing one of the more significant green-transport investments in the hill state's urban centres.
