Amaravati, Jan 17 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Friday praised the Rs 11,440 crore financial initiative aimed at rejuvenating the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, extending his thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Naidu took to X to respond to the Union Cabinet’s resolution, calling it a significant and emotional occasion for the citizens of Andhra Pradesh.
"Today signifies a historic milestone etched in steel. It is an emotional and proud moment for the people of Andhra Pradesh, as the Union Government, following GoAP's ongoing efforts since the NDA Government's inception, has sanctioned financial support of Rs 11,440 crore to restore the Vizag Steel Plant," he stated.
The Chief Minister expressed his ‘heartfelt’ appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his steadfast commitment to the Steel Plant, assuring that this initiative will align with the PM’s vision of nation-building as part of Viksit Bharat – Viksit Andhra.
Naidu, whose Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is a significant partner of the BJP-led NDA at the Centre, also acknowledged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Heavy Industries and Steel Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy for their unwavering support and affirmative responses.
"The Vizag Steel Plant is more than just an industrial site; it represents the perseverance and spirit of the people of Andhra Pradesh, holding a unique significance in the hearts of many, particularly the residents of Vizag. This was not just an electoral promise; it was a heartfelt commitment we were determined to fulfill. Bright days are ahead for Andhra Pradesh," Naidu added.
State Information Technology and Human Resources Minister Nara Lokesh also praised the Centre’s resolution.
"Andhra Pradesh today feels justified for electing NDA to power. The state's pride and crown jewel, the Vizag Steel Plant, will be rejuvenated with a special package of Rs 11,440 crore, approved by the Prime Minister," he posted on X.
Lokesh, who is the son of Chief Minister Naidu, remarked that Naidu worked diligently to keep his electoral pledge to rescue the struggling steel plant from shutting down.
"All accolades should go to Honourable Prime Minister Modi Ji for acknowledging our plea and providing a significant boost to the plant, which will generate direct and indirect employment for millions while playing a vital role in nation-building as part of Viksit Bharat – Viksit Andhra," he wrote.
He also expressed gratitude to the Union Ministers Sitharaman and Kumaraswamy for their steadfast backing. "Empowered with wings of steel, Andhra Pradesh will ascend to new heights, transforming countless lives for the better," he concluded.
