Amaravati, Jan 19 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, stated on Sunday that thanks to the support from the Centre, his state has emerged from a critical state, yet it still needs additional assistance for complete recovery.

During the inauguration of the new complex of the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) southern campus and the NDRF 10th Battalion headquarters at Kondapavuluru village in Krishna district, he urged the Centre to aid in the inter-linking of rivers. This request was made to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

“At the time of elections, the state was in a critical condition. As a physician, you provided the necessary support. Now, we are recovering but still require care,” he remarked, highlighting the state’s public debt, which stands at Rs 10 lakh crore.

He emphasized the necessity to pay interest on these debts, execute developmental projects, and honor commitments made to the citizens. Naidu pointed out that the Centre has allocated Rs 15,000 crore for the development of Amaravati.

He also mentioned the Centre’s backing for the Polavaram project, assuring that it would be completed by April 2027.

Naidu stated that the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant holds significant emotional value for the state, and he expressed gratitude for the Centre’s revitalization efforts through a financial package of Rs 11,440 crore.

He acknowledged that Prime Minister Modi recently laid the foundation for a new railway zone in Visakhapatnam.

“The Centre is providing support, but we require further assistance until we can fully revive and contribute to the nation's growth. Our citizens are resourceful, and with your guidance, they can achieve remarkable things for the country,” he stated.

The Chief Minister revealed that the state government has successfully connected the Godavari and Krishna rivers.

“Our goal is to connect the Godavari to Pennar and the Polavaram to Bankacherla. If this isn’t done now, it may never happen,” he urged the Centre to explore solutions. Naidu mentioned that the state is pursuing various models, including public-private partnerships, for the river inter-linking project.

He expressed confidence that with the Centre's assistance, the state will overcome challenges and progress to be on par with other states.

Commending PM Modi for his vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, the Chief Minister stressed the need for India to invest in future technologies to become a global leader.

He also praised Amit Shah for prioritizing training for the NDRF and for his effective performance as Union Home Minister.
