Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Monday, 1 June 2026 a two-city programme beginning in Lucknow, where he will felicitate meritorious students, their parents and school principals who excelled in central and state board examinations conducted by the Secondary Education Department. He will then travel to Bijnor to distribute land ownership documents, housing approvals and enterprise grants to several categories of beneficiaries.

Posting in Hindi on X, the Chief Minister wrote: 'प्रतिभा का सम्मान, परिश्रम का प्रोत्साहन, मातृशक्ति का सशक्तीकरण और अंत्योदय का संकल्प, यही विकसित उत्तर प्रदेश की आधारशिला है।' — ('Honouring talent, encouraging hard work, empowering women, and the resolve of Antyodaya — these are the foundations of a developed Uttar Pradesh.')

Context

The Lucknow ceremony recognises students who performed outstandingly in both CBSE/central board and UP State Board examinations. The Secondary Education Department of Uttar Pradesh has held such merit-recognition events annually for several decades, bringing together toppers, their guardians and school heads for a formal state-level felicitation.

The Bijnor leg of the programme targets multiple vulnerable groups simultaneously — families displaced from Pakistan after the 1947 and 1965–71 conflicts, former servicemen and lease-holders — who will receive Bhoomidhara (land ownership) rights documents, a long-pending demand in western Uttar Pradesh.
