Jaipur, Dec 26 (NationPress) A severe cold wave has taken hold over Rajasthan, leading to a significant drop in temperatures statewide. The Meteorological Department issued a forecast on Friday indicating that cold conditions will worsen in the next three to four days, along with a yellow alert for 11 districts in northeastern Rajasthan.
The lowest temperature was recorded in Karauli at 3.6 degrees Celsius, while Pali saw 5.2 degrees C. Other areas are also experiencing extreme cold, with temperatures at 6.4 degrees C in Churu, 6.6 degrees C in Nagaur, 6.9 degrees C in Jalore, 5.0 degrees C in Dausa, 5.2 degrees C in Anta-Baran, and 6.0 degrees C in Alwar.
Numerous regions reported minimum temperatures below 10 degrees C, escalating winter conditions.
In Sikar, cold winds have heightened the chill factor, and even with sporadic sunshine, temperatures remained low throughout the morning. Jaipur and Nagaur have witnessed a steep drop of nearly 8 degrees Celsius in the last two days, exacerbating the cold wave.
Thursday night was notably the coldest of the season in various cities. In rural Kota, thick fog enveloped the fields on Friday morning, causing dew to freeze on crops, raising agricultural concerns.
The cold wave is most severe in the Shekhawati region, which includes Sikar, Churu, and Jhunjhunu, along with Nagaur, Alwar, Karauli, Dholpur, and Bharatpur.
Frost has begun forming in rural areas, with mornings and evenings becoming particularly harsh. In some rural locations, temperatures linger around 5 degrees Celsius, while cold winds keep daytime temperatures suppressed.
Despite clear skies, maximum temperatures have struggled to rise, with Barmer reporting a high of 28.4 degrees C on Thursday, while Jaipur remained cooler at 24 degrees C.
The Meteorological Department has cautioned of a further intensification of the cold wave in the upcoming days, urging residents to be vigilant, especially during early morning and late evening hours.
