New Delhi, Jan 30 (NationPress) In reaction to former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's allegations that the Election Commission of India (ECI) is displaying political bias against opposition parties, Congress MP Imran Masood has supported these claims, stating that the ECI is indeed acting with a bias against opposition entities.

Speaking to IANS, Imran Masood remarked, "It’s accurate that the ECI is functioning with bias, and opposition parties have raised this issue for quite some time. There’s no doubt that the ECI is partial. Concerning Yamuna water, Kejriwal ji must face accountability—the water is extremely polluted, even hazardous. Both the BJP and AAP share responsibility for this, as the Yamuna originates in Haryana. I am referring to both the Yamuna and Ganga; the Ganga water is just as contaminated. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) reports, under the central government, provide clear evidence. If you examine the reports on both the Ganga and Yamuna, everything will become evident."

Masood further commented on the recent political maneuvers involving Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav, who participated in Kejriwal’s roadshow in Rithala.

"This is Akhilesh ji’s choice. We can’t provide commentary on it. However, we are backing him in Milkipur," he stated.

Meanwhile, the ECI sent a letter to Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday, addressing his claim that the BJP-led Haryana government had tainted Delhi’s water supply from the Yamuna River. The ECI labeled Kejriwal’s statement as prima facie "promoting disharmony and enmity" and requested that he present evidence by 11 am on Friday to substantiate his assertion.

However, in response, Kejriwal mentioned to reporters that he would send three bottles of Yamuna water to the ECI and to Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.

"Let the three Election Commissioners drink these during a press conference, and we will admit our error," Kejriwal suggested.

As the capital prepares for the Assembly election, intense campaigns from competing political parties are in full swing. The 70-member Delhi Assembly is set to vote on February 5, with results to be announced on February 8.
