Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 21 (NationPress) The Congress party has directed its criticism towards the Pinarayi Vijayan administration concerning the tragic mob lynching of a migrant worker from Chhattisgarh in Palakkad, demanding swift action against everyone involved in this heinous act and fair compensation for the victim's family.

They also insisted that the Kerala government ensure proper arrangements for the respectful transport of Ramnarayan Baghel's remains back to his home village. Baghel was reportedly mistaken for a ‘Bangladeshi national’ and was savagely killed.

KC Venugopal, Congress MP from Kerala, criticized the state government for its failure to control the violent elements responsible for the death of the impoverished laborer.

The 31-year-old Ramnarayan Baghel, hailing from Sakti district, had traveled to Kerala seeking employment and better wages; tragically, his life ended when he was brutally attacked by an unruly mob in Palakkad.

A video of the incident emerged on social media, showing the victim bleeding and suffering from numerous injuries, triggering widespread anger and outrage online.

Reports indicate that Ramnarayan attempted to reason with his assailants, but they continued to viciously beat him, referring to him as “Bangladeshi.”

The Congress General Secretary condemned the state government for the worsening law and order conditions and its “careless approach” in addressing the brutal murder of Ramnarayan.

“The Kerala Government has exhibited a completely negligent attitude in controlling the spread of fear-driven propaganda and unchecked rumors. They must be held accountable for their failure to act promptly and their overall inability to maintain law and order in the state,” he stated in a post on X.

The Congress leader also recalled the shocking 2018 incident in which a tribal youth named Madhu was similarly lynched, with justice only being served after a significant public outcry.

“It is tragic that a state renowned for its communal harmony is witnessing repeated episodes of mob violence,” he lamented, grieving another innocent life lost due to suspicion and misinformation.

Madhu had been brutally attacked by a mob who mistakenly identified him as a thief. He succumbed to his injuries hours later.
