Bengaluru, July 8 (NationPress) - The Karnataka unit of the Congress took a significant step on Tuesday by filing a police complaint in Bengaluru concerning offensive social media posts directed at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
This complaint was submitted by office-bearers Kushal Haruve Gowda and Sanjay from the Bengaluru West District Congress Committee at the Peenya Police Station.
The objectionable posts emerged after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's visit to a hospital in Sheshadripuram, Bengaluru, for a routine health check-up on Monday.
The individuals responsible for the posts allegedly expressed “death wishes” and made disparaging remarks about Siddaramaiah.
The complainants noted that after the news of the Chief Minister’s hospital visit circulated, these individuals propagated false information and made inappropriate comments, causing emotional distress to millions of his supporters.
Moreover, they argued that such behavior could lead to serious implications for law and order, disrupting peace and social harmony. The complainants urged the authorities to take swift action against those involved.
As a result of these events, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has canceled all scheduled activities for the day. His office confirmed he will not attend any meetings or events.
Looking ahead, he is set to travel to Delhi on Wednesday, where he is expected to meet the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, later in the evening.
Previously, a Home Guard in Bengaluru was apprehended for allegedly posting a provocative message on Instagram targeting the Chief Minister.
The Karkala Town Police in Udupi district arrested the suspect, identified as Sampath Salian, originally from Karkala and working in Bengaluru.
He reportedly posted a message on May 2 saying, “If Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is killed, Hindus will have peace.”
Following a complaint by Suraj Kukkundoor of Karkala, police took action, tracing the accused to Bengaluru where he was arrested.
