Congress Leader Questions Delay in Maharashtra Government Formation

Mumbai, Dec 3 (NationPress) Maharashtra Congress General Secretary, Sachin Sawant, on Tuesday condemned the leaders of the Mahayuti alliance, alleging they are afflicted by a "power fever" as they fail to establish the Chief Minister's identity in the state.

Sawant's comments followed Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's recent observations regarding the dissatisfaction that permeates politics.

At the launch of the book '50 Golden Rules of Life' in Nagpur on Sunday, Gadkari referred to politics as a "sea of unsatisfied souls, " where individuals at all levels seek elevated positions.

According to Gadkari, "The one who becomes Corporator is sad because he did not get the chance to become MLA, and an MLA is sad because he could not get a ministerial berth. The one who becomes a minister is sad because he could not secure a favorable ministerial department and could not ascend to Chief Minister, and the Chief Minister is under stress because he is uncertain when the high command will ask him to step down."

In response to Gadkari's comments, Sawant stated to IANS, "It’s a sarcastic remark, and those who need to understand it will. The ongoing power struggle between the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, each on the verge of assuming the CM role, is what these remarks are alluding to."

Criticising the Mahayuti alliance for its tardiness in forming a government in Maharashtra, Sawant queried, "Why is it taking so long? The Cabinet should have been established on November 26, yet it has not occurred."

He accused the alliance of placing their political ambitions above public welfare.

"This is merely a struggle for power; these leaders do not regard the public as significant. Their power aspirations are causing further delays, leaving the public’s questions unanswered. This is regrettable and unjust to the public," he remarked.

When asked about reports suggesting Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde was upset, Sawant commented that while the residents of Maharashtra endure hardships, the Mahayuti leaders are preoccupied with their own power disputes.

"This is their internal affair. However, it was mentioned that he is suffering from fever; this is the fever of power," Sawant added, emphasising, "The financial conditions of farmers and ordinary citizens in Maharashtra are worsening, yet they remain fixated on their power struggles."
