New Delhi, Jan 14 (NationPress) The chairperson of the All India Congress Committee's social media and digital platform, Supriya Shrinate, emphasized on Tuesday that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the BJP have collectively turned Delhi into the 'Crime Capital' of India.
While addressing the press, she highlighted that back in 2013, when the Congress was in power, approximately 80,184 criminal cases were reported in Delhi. In contrast, the crime statistics have since surged, with a staggering 3,00,429 cases documented in 2024.
Despite the alarming rise in criminal activities, it appears that crime has not emerged as a significant electoral concern for either the AAP or the BJP during the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, as per her statements.
She expressed concern that women and children have been disproportionately affected by these incidents, with many women now fearing for their safety when leaving their homes.
According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), women experience two assaults every hour, totaling 40 assaults daily. Shrinate assured that if the Congress regains power in Delhi, addressing law and order will be a top priority.
Previously, former Delhi Minister Dr. Narendra Nath launched five LED screen vans, set to tour all 70 Assembly constituencies in Delhi, to inform voters about the Congress commitments.
These vans will also shed light on the shortcomings of the Kejriwal government in delivering on its promises over the past decade.
The vans display the message, “Congress is essential to advance the stalled development over the past 10 years.”
Notable individuals at the launch included AICC national spokesperson Abhay Dubey, Sidharth Rao, Jatin Sharma, Tasveer Solanki, spokespersons Asma Tasleem, Rashmi Singh Miglani, and Dr. Arun Aggarwal.
The vans aim to communicate the promises made by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devender Yadav to the public, which include a monthly assistance of Rs 2,500 for women under the 'Pyari Didi Yojna', a Rs 25 lakh health insurance plan for all residents, and a stipend of Rs 8,500 per month for educated, unemployed youth.
