Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, February 25 (NationPress) Creating a stir over the shirtless demonstration by Congress youth workers at the renowned AI Impact Summit, a Congress leader on Wednesday defended the naked protest at Bharat Mandapam and escalated tensions by openly challenging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene.
This declaration elicited a strong reaction from the BJP, which condemned the Congress leader's offensive remarks and criticized the party for its repeated derogatory comments towards the Prime Minister.
Congress leader Brinder Singh Dhillon, along with a group of party supporters and volunteers, expressed frustration over punitive measures taken against IYC members for their provocative actions and vocal protests against the Prime Minister. Dhillon urged fellow party members to intensify their actions against the government's efforts to suppress their voices.
“Modi ko bolo teri aisi ki taisi, tere ko dekhenge saamne se. Aa tere mein hai dum, toh dara le jisko darana hai, punjab wale aane lage hain.” (Tell Modi... To hell with you. We will confront you directly. If you have the courage, try to intimidate us, as people from Punjab are rising up), declared the Punjab Congress leader, harshly criticizing the Modi administration and issuing a bold challenge.
He further encouraged party members to remain undeterred by threats or arrests, asserting that they should be prepared to fill the jails with their arrests but must never succumb to the government's 'intimidation tactics'.
The BJP quickly criticized the Congress leader for endorsing the naked protest at the AI Expo, alleging that such actions diminish India’s reputation on a global stage.
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari remarked, "The 'Tukde Tukde Congress' simultaneously laments when their 'Babbar Sher' are imprisoned while many leaders within the party openly express Anti-India sentiments!"
Shehzad Poonawala took aim at the Congress leader for the abusive remarks directed at the Prime Minister, equating it to a blatant death threat against him.
“This constitutes an open death threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Such abusive language reflects the party's mentality. This isn't an isolated incident; PM Modi has been insulted multiple times, and his OBC heritage has been mocked, alongside humiliating comments directed at his family, including derogatory remarks made during the recent Bihar elections,” he stated.
