Is AI Really Anti-India? BJP Criticizes Congress for Protest at Bharat Mandapam
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 20 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a fierce critique against the Congress party for staging a dramatic protest during the five-day AI Impact Summit, initiated by its youth wing members. The BJP has called on Congress to apologize to the nation for its “deplorable and despicable” actions.
The BJP expressed strong disapproval of the “disruptive tactics” employed by Congress workers, stating that while opposing a policy or event is a democratic right, this was a calculated effort to undermine India's global reputation.
Pointing fingers at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for allegedly “unleashing” the shirtless protestors at the event, the BJP claimed that the planned chaos aimed to humiliate India internationally.
“While India proudly hosts a significant global AI Summit, showcasing its technological innovation and leadership, the Congress party opted for disruption over dignity,” the statement added.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala described the shirtless protest outside the Bharat Mandapam as an “anti-India” act, accusing Congress of deploying thugs against the nation.
“These protests are shirtless against the BJP but brainless against India. For Congress, AI stands for Anti-India,” he asserted.
Another BJP spokesperson, Pradeep Bhandari, similarly held Rahul Gandhi accountable, recalling his recent remarks labeling the AI Impact Summit as a “disorganized PR spectacle.” He alleged that it was under his direction that youth Congress members stormed the venue, attended by foreign delegates, tech experts, and numerous heads of state.
“Congress must apologize to the nation! They act like Urban Naxals,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the group of Indian Youth Congress workers who entered the Bharat Mandapam with provocative banners and chanted slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi were detained and taken to a police station.
Authorities have stated that legal actions are being pursued against them for trespassing into the venue and jeopardizing the security of foreign delegates.
In a statement, the INC youth wing conceded that its members protested outside the venue, expressing grievances over the government's “prioritization of corporate interests over national interests.”
