Bhubaneswar, Sep 18 (NationPress) The opposition Congress has declared its intention to introduce a No Confidence Motion against the BJP-led state government during the forthcoming monsoon session of the Odisha Assembly, which is set to commence on Thursday.
During a press briefing following the Congress MLAs' meeting here, CLP leader Rama Chandra Kadam stated, "The state government has consistently failed to address critical issues, including the safety of women, law and order, and the challenges faced by farmers, dalits, tribals, and OBCs. Therefore, we have resolved to bring a no confidence motion against this government during the assembly session."
Kadam criticized the BJP-led administration, asserting that it has devolved into a party merely full of empty promises. He noted that the ruling party has not met the expectations of the populace.
The Congress CLP leader also revealed that the opposition will highlight numerous issues such as violence against women, rising unemployment, increasing evictions due to industrialization, and the black market of fertilizers, along with proposed amendments to the SC/ST Act.
Bhakta Charan Das, of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, mentioned recent violence against women in areas like Gopalpur, Balasore, Balanga, and Brahmagiri.
Additionally, he emphasized the brutal murder of traffic constable Subhamitra Sahoo by a fellow officer in Bhubaneswar, questioning the competency of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also oversees the home department, and the Commissionerate police.
Das pointed out that the CLP discussed issues relating to violence against women, the fertilizer crisis, farmers’ struggles, corruption in education, inadequate safe drinking water, and the delay in announcing students’ union elections.
It’s notable that the OPCC president previously urged the BJD, the main opposition in Odisha, to initiate a no-confidence motion against the BJP government during this Monsoon Session. The Congress party holds 14 MLAs in the state assembly.
