Hyderabad, Feb 22 (NationPress) Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy expressed his concerns regarding the recent events in Telangana, labeling them as "extremely alarming" and accusing the Congress administration of undermining democracy.
He condemned the purported assault on the BJP MLA's camp office in Kamareddy and the subsequent house arrests of party MPs, MLAs, and state BJP president N. Ramchander Rao, describing these actions as violations of democratic rights.
Reddy noted that the house arrest of several MPs and MLAs, including the BJP state president, who aimed to visit Kamareddy in support of the MLA K. Venkata Ramana Reddy, evokes memories of an undeclared emergency in Telangana.
The BJP leader charged that the Congress government is abusing its power for retaliatory politics due to its fear of the BJP's growing influence in state politics.
"Unable to accept the people's verdict, it is plotting to silence the opposition's voice. Political disagreements are a natural aspect of democracy. However, stifling the opposition's voice is indicative of the Congress government's intolerance," he stated.
The central minister claimed that making unfounded accusations against the MLA and placing him under house arrest after he challenged those allegations reflects clear bias. He pointed out that Congress leaders crashing their vehicle into the MLA's camp office signifies a breakdown of law and order in the state.
He insisted that the law should apply equally to all, accusing the Congress government of targeting political adversaries through the misuse of police forces.
Reddy affirmed that BJP leaders and supporters will not be intimidated by such tactics. He declared that the BJP will amplify its voice on public matters in Telangana.
He called on the state government to cease political arrests immediately and uphold democratic rights. "Otherwise, the people of Telangana will rise to safeguard democracy. The populace will respond decisively to every attempt to stifle democracy," he cautioned.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar also vehemently denounced the "illegal" detention of Telangana BJP president Ramchander Rao.
Bandi Sanjay remarked that Ramchander Rao was scheduled to visit the Kamareddy MLA and meet with families affected by the violence in Banswada.
"Rather than addressing the assailants, the Congress government has opted to confine an opposition leader. The actions of Congress and MIM taking the law into their own hands are reprehensible. Is this Praja Palana or a police state? It seems that emergency-like conditions have emerged in the state," the MoS posted on 'X'.
"Let the Congress be clear. Intimidation and arrests will not deter us. MIM and Congress are jointly fostering an environment of lawlessness. BJP supporters must be prepared to counter these unlawful actions. We will stand by every victim and expose this government's biases," he concluded.
