Contractor's Tragic Death: Karnataka Government Silent; Family to Reach Out to PM for Justice

Bidar (Karnataka), Jan 2 (NationPress) The family of Sachin Panchal, a contractor who tragically took his own life while accusing a close associate of Minister Priyank Kharge, has voiced their disillusionment with the Karnataka government due to the absence of any updates regarding the case. They have decided to reach out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in pursuit of justice.

Surekha, the sister of the deceased, spoke in their village of Kattitongov near Bhalki in Bidar district, saying, “It has been seven days since he ended his life, and we haven't received a single update. It appears they are attempting to cover up the situation.”

In a passionate statement, she asserted, “Currently, they are suggesting that Sachin was never a contractor, and tomorrow they might claim that his office in Kalaburagi never existed or that he had no connection to the area. They might even go as far as to argue that the handwriting on the death note isn’t his, or that he never existed at all.”

“The death note clearly outlines the details. The authorities should have interrogated the individual mentioned in it, but instead, the police are questioning us. They should prioritize questioning the accused,” Surekha insisted.

“We are still in the dark about whether the post-mortem and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reports have been obtained. Without any updates on the investigation's progress, how can we trust the government? We will be sending a letter to Prime Minister Modi since meeting him personally is not feasible. We feel we have no other choice,” she expressed.

“Our faith in this government has eroded. We believe that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should take over this case,” she added.

“My brother owned an iPhone. He mentioned in his death note that it was confiscated. The police have shown no interest in investigating this matter,” she claimed.

“Members of the Contractors’ Association inquired whether Sachin had a license. We were told that all documents pertaining to him were in the Kalaburagi office, but those documents are now destroyed,” Surekha alleged.

“Previously, we have stated that we are uncertain whether Sachin possessed a license for his contracting work,” she clarified.

In the meantime, Jagannath Shegaji, President of the State Contractors' Association, shared that he gathered information from contractors in Bidar district and concluded that Sachin Panchal was not a contractor.

“Sachin lacks any contracts or licenses. He can only be classified as a contractor if he holds a registered license under the PWD in Bengaluru,” Jagannath stated.

He further noted, “We have checked with the Chief Engineers of Dharwad and Kalaburagi. No registration has been found. This will also be verified at the Bengaluru office. There is no record of any pending bills or tenders under the name of Sachin.”

At just 26 years old, Sachin took his life after allegedly enduring threats and extortion from Raju Kapanuru, an aide of Priyank Kharge. His seven-page suicide note explicitly blamed Kapanuru for his distress.
