Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge’s Aide and Four Others Arrested in Contractor Suicide Investigation

Bengaluru, Jan 10 (NationPress) The Criminal Investigating Department (CID), a special unit of the Karnataka Police Department, has taken into custody five individuals, among them the aide of Minister Priyank Kharge, concerning the suicide of contractor Sachin Panchal on Friday.
The BJP has accused Priyank Kharge, the son of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, of involvement in this case.
The deceased, Sachin, had implicated Raju Kapanur, the aide of Minister Kharge, along with eight others in his suicide note. Both the BJP and JD (S) are demanding Minister Kharge's resignation and a transfer of the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The BJP organized a significant protest in Kalaburagi, Minister Kharge's hometown, attempting to besiege his residence.
The individuals apprehended include Raju Kapanur, Goraknath, Nandakumar Nagabujangi, Rama Nagouda Patil, and Satish.
Previously, the CID had issued notices to all nine individuals mentioned in the suicide note. Following this, five accused presented themselves to CID officials on Friday. They were summoned to the Bidar Railway Police station in Bidar city and were arrested after interrogation. The accused were subsequently brought before a local magistrate.
Twenty-six-year-old contractor Sachin Panchal from Kalaburagi reportedly took his own life after suffering threats and extortion from Raju Kapanuru. Sachin's seven-page suicide note accused Kapanuru of severe misconduct.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, R. Ashoka, has charged Raju Kapanur, the main suspect in Sachin’s suicide, with being a goon shielded by the Congress. “They had his name removed from the Goonda Act but are now disavowing him. Three Congress leaders are among the accused,” Ashoka criticized, asserting that the BJP will not rest until justice is served.
In the midst of the turmoil surrounding the contractor's suicide case, which allegedly involves state Minister Priyank Kharge, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has forwarded Sachin Panchal’s suicide note to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
In response to these developments, Priyank Kharge criticized BJP leaders in Bengaluru. “I have communicated with the family of the deceased contractor Sachin Panchal. The government is obligated to ensure a transparent investigation and deliver justice for that family,” he stated.
“Let the initial investigation proceed in Sachin’s case. The CBI has clearly indicated to the BJP government that due to resource constraints, they cannot take on miscellaneous cases. We will not take directives from the BJP regarding our actions,” he remarked.
