Bengaluru, April 11 (NationPress) A viral video featuring a young couple engaged in Public Display of Affection (PDA) at a Metro station platform in Bengaluru, while waiting to board a train, took social media by storm on Friday.

This incident has triggered a significant discussion regarding public conduct. Numerous individuals have voiced their disapproval of the couple's actions, deeming them inappropriate for a public setting.

The public is also calling on authorities to implement stringent measures against such behavior and set a precedent to ensure that public spaces remain safe, clean, and respectful for all.

The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has yet to release an official statement concerning this incident.

The 1.25-minute video depicts the young couple partaking in an indecent act while surrounded by other commuters, including elderly people. The couple is seen queuing to board the train, with the young man placing his hand inside the girl's jersey and continuing this behavior for an extended duration.

The couple appears to be entirely oblivious to their public surroundings.

This video was shared on the social media platform X by ‘Karnataka Portfolio’ late Thursday night with the caption, “Is Bengaluru adopting the Delhi Metro culture??? Disturbing public behavior at Namma Metro station raises questions about decency in Bengaluru.”

The post states, “It is profoundly disappointing and concerning to observe the kind of behavior that some individuals are now showcasing in public spaces. A recent incident at the Namma Metro station near Madavara has left many astonished and uneasy. A young man was seen engaging in highly inappropriate behavior with his girlfriend, openly placing his hands inside her clothes in a vulgar manner while standing with her. Such actions, especially in a public venue like a metro station, are utterly unacceptable.”

“Public spaces are intended for everyone — children, women, families, and elders — and witnessing individuals treat them as private zones for intimate behavior is both disrespectful and disgraceful. It highlights a growing lack of shame and decency among certain individuals who seem to have no regard for public conduct or the people around them,” the post continues.

It further remarks, “While relationships are personal matters, there exists a distinct boundary between affection and public indecency — and that boundary should never be crossed in a space designated for public transit. What’s even more disheartening is the attitude of some young women who tolerate or even encourage such behavior from their partners, as if there’s nothing amiss. This is not boldness or freedom — it is carelessness, disrespect, and a lack of social awareness.”

“Bengaluru has long been recognized as a city celebrated for its progressive yet respectful culture. Unfortunately, with incidents like these becoming increasingly common, one can't help but question what values are being infused into our city and why basic standards of public behavior are being disregarded.”

Commenters on the video have also criticized the posting of the video without blurring the faces of the young couple. This post has sparked intense debate across social media.
