Kolkata, May 7 (NationPress) In the wake of Operation Sindoor, where Indian armed forces targeted terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the CPI-M on Wednesday urged the government to persist in applying pressure on Pakistan for the extradition of the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam massacre.

"In addition to these military actions, the Indian government must continue to press Pakistan for the surrender of those accountable for the tragic killings of innocents in Pahalgam and ensure that no terrorist camps remain operational on its soil," stated the CPI-M Politburo.

Furthermore, the CPI-M leadership has called for the protection of national unity and integrity.

In their statement, CPI-M leaders reaffirmed their support for any initiatives by the Indian government aimed at curbing terrorist activities within the nation.

"During the All Party Meeting convened by the Union Government, all political parties expressed their backing for the actions taken against terrorists and their supporters," the Politburo's statement elaborated.

The CPI-M leadership commended the Indian defense forces for executing strikes in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in a focused, measured, and non-escalatory manner.

"Operation Sindoor was executed by the Indian armed forces with the goal of dismantling terrorist camps and infrastructure in PoK and Pakistan. The armed forces reported that these strikes were targeted, calculated, and non-escalatory, successfully conducted at nine locations," the Politburo noted.

Earlier today, family members of tourists from West Bengal who lost their lives in the horrific Pahalgam massacre last month—where terrorists backed by Pakistan selectively targeted individuals based on religion—expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Operation Sindoor.

As of now, there has been no comprehensive response from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, aside from her post on X stating, "Jai Hind! Jai India!"

Point of View

We observe that the CPI-M's stance reflects a broader consensus on the need for India to confront terrorism decisively while ensuring national unity. In times of crisis, it is imperative to prioritize the safety and integrity of our nation, and the call for continued pressure on Pakistan indicates a strategic approach towards ensuring accountability and security.
