Kolkata, May 12 (NationPress) The CPI-M General Secretary M.A. Baby penned a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, advocating for a special parliamentary session to discuss the recent ceasefire developments and associated national issues.
The letter states that while the announcement of the ceasefire provided a degree of relief, numerous critical issues remain unresolved, especially concerning the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, last month, which catalyzed India's Operation Sindoor, targeting and dismantling terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
In M.A. Baby's correspondence to the Prime Minister, he highlighted that despite the Indian populace exhibiting remarkable unity following the Pahalgam terror incident, the essence of this national solidarity is being compromised by a toxic campaign of hatred and jingoism, along with misinformation propagated by certain media outlets and social media platforms.
Such actions have led to considerable confusion and unrest among citizens.
The letter also expressed concern over an announcement by the President of the United States regarding the ceasefire, which was made prior to any formal statement from Indian representatives. This raises significant issues as India's policy emphasizes resolving disputes bilaterally, without third-party interference. Hence, the letter urges for a clear and authoritative explanation from the highest government echelons.
In light of these circumstances, the CPI-M General Secretary contends that the Prime Minister should call for a special parliamentary session and personally attend to clarify the Union government's stance on the matter.
Earlier on the same day, CPI-M leadership questioned the government's silence regarding Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri blocking his X account after facing heavy trolling on social media.
