Shillong, June 17 (NationPress) The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Meghalaya Police carried out a meticulous reconstruction of the crime scene on Tuesday, as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi.
This reenactment took place in Sohra, with the participation of the accused Sonam Raghuvanshi and other individuals involved in the case.
Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem and the East Khasi Hills Police have made notable advancements in the probe into Raja's brutal murder.
The crime scene was meticulously recreated at the Wei Sawdong parking lot, the location where Raja was attacked and ultimately killed, which authorities suspect was a carefully plotted act stemming from a complicated love triangle.
SP Syiem shared with reporters that Raja Raghuvanshi endured three critical wounds during the assault.
“The initial strike, executed by Vishal, was particularly forceful and resulted in death,” Syiem revealed.
“The attackers employed two sharp instruments during the assault. The suspects admitted to disposing of the weapons after the act, and our SDRF team is currently working to locate them.”
Reports indicate that the accused - Vishal, Raj, and Sonam - had scouted various sites before opting for the isolated Wei Sawdong area to carry out their plan.
The reconstruction, termed “very successful” by Syiem, provided investigators with enhanced clarity regarding the sequence of events.
“We demonstrated how the weapon was discarded, which has furnished us with a comprehensive understanding,” he stated.
The autopsy revealed that Raja succumbed to injuries inflicted by sharp objects to the head, two of which were classified as fatal.
Further investigations have unveiled unsettling details about Sonam’s role, who not only witnessed but allegedly instigated the attack.
“Sonam indicated the need to eliminate Raja,” Syiem disclosed.
“She was present during the murder and fled the scene after the first strike. Furthermore, she destroyed her phone to erase digital traces.”
Preliminary findings suggest that a love triangle may be the motive behind the murder.
Raja, who was reportedly employed at Sonam's family business, was involved in a relationship that seems to have deteriorated amid rising tensions and jealousy.
“Sonam has confessed to orchestrating the entire plan,” Syiem stated.
Raj, another suspect, maintained contact with Raja’s family to divert suspicion in the aftermath of the crime.
Despite significant breakthroughs in the investigation, SP Syiem emphasized that other potential motives are being examined.
“We are expanding our inquiry. While the love triangle is a key focus, we are considering other possible motivations that could have led to this crime,” he noted.
This case, which has shocked the tranquil hills of Meghalaya, continues to evolve, with unsettling discoveries emerging daily.
