Raipur/Bijapur, Dec 25 (NationPress) In a major triumph against Left-Wing Extremism on Christmas Day, personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) effectively prevented a potentially catastrophic Maoist attack by recovering and neutralizing two powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in the volatile Bijapur district, according to police officials.

The operation was executed as part of a routine anti-Maoist area domination initiative launched from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Kandlaparti-2. A committed unit from the 214th Battalion of the CRPF undertook patrol and search operations in the dense forests, a territory notorious for Maoist ambushes and explosive traps, officials reported.

Heightened vigilance proved advantageous when the Bomb Detection and Disposal (BDD) squad identified suspicious items during demining operations. They discovered two lethal IEDs – one weighing an impressive 20 kg and the other 5 kg – cleverly hidden to target patrolling personnel or civilians, police officials elaborated.

The team also confiscated 110 bundles of firecrackers, commonly referred to as sutli bombs, concealed within a container covered in black tarpaulin. These materials are often repurposed by Maoists to craft explosive devices. Following strict safety protocols, BDD experts from the 214th Battalion successfully destroyed both IEDs on-site, eliminating any risk to nearby areas or personnel.

The rapid and professional response averted what could have been a devastating incident, particularly in a region where Maoists routinely set such traps to undermine security operations and instill fear among the populace.

Officials commended the CRPF personnel for their quick decision-making and valor, emphasizing that the recovery dealt a significant blow to the Maoists' sinister plans.

"The attentiveness of our jawans has once again prevented a major tragedy, protecting lives and furthering our mission for peace in Bastar," stated police officials.

This achievement is part of intensified anti-Naxal efforts in Chhattisgarh, where security forces have set up new camps and carried out relentless operations to eliminate insurgency.

With Maoist activities declining due to surrenders, encounters, and disruptions like this, authorities remain steadfast in their commitment to making the region free from Naxals.
