To boost spectator safety, the Greater Chennai Police have rolled out a new feature called the ‘Chennai Singam IPL QR Code’. This system enables fans to quickly report any security issues to authorities by scanning a QR code. The initiative is designed to improve crowd management and ensure a rapid response in case of emergencies.
With a large turnout anticipated, this technology will contribute to a safer match-day atmosphere.
Chennai is set to host a total of seven matches at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on these dates: March 23, March 28, April 5, April 11, April 25, and April 30.
The Greater Chennai Traffic Police have revealed that traffic will be diverted on all match days from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Car pass holders are allowed to park exclusively in the designated zones indicated on their passes. Taxis, auto-rickshaws, and chauffeur-driven vehicles can utilize Anna Salai and Wallajah Road to drop off passengers near the stadium, with parking available on Sivananda Salai.
Mini-buses and MTC buses will not be allowed on Wallajah Road; instead, they will pick up and drop passengers at Swamy Sivananda Salai.
Fans can access the stadium by walking along Press Club Road. The entry from Wallajah Road will be restricted, allowing access only via Bharathi Salai. Bells Road will function as a one-way street, with vehicles from Ratna Cafe being diverted at the junction of Bells Road and Wallajah Road.
Fans are encouraged to utilize public transport for greater convenience and to alleviate traffic congestion. The MRTS Chepauk Railway Station and Government Estate Metro Station provide easy access to the stadium.
