The Governor, along with the state's First Lady, Anagha Parnaik, took part in the combined celebration of Nagaland and Assam’s foundation day alongside the Naga and Assamese communities at Lok Bhavan in Itanagar.
An official from Lok Bhavan noted that this event beautifully showcased India's unity in diversity, mirroring the Governor's goal of promoting intercultural understanding among individuals, especially the youth, which is essential for a harmonious, inclusive society.
Lt. General Parnaik (Retd.) reflected fondly on the rich and intertwined histories of Assam and Nagaland, commending the citizens of both states for their steadfast dedication to conserving their natural surroundings, cultural heritage, and cherished traditions of textiles and handlooms.
He drew connections with Arunachal Pradesh, mentioning that the Assamese language played a crucial role as a connecting dialect in the state’s formative years, signifying the strong ties shared among northeastern neighbors.
In expressing his gratitude, the Governor acknowledged the contributions of the people of Assam and Nagaland towards the development of Arunachal Pradesh and the collective vision of Viksit Bharat.
He remarked that the goodwill and mutual trust among the states have fortified their interdependence, further deepening the warmth and camaraderie that have historically characterized relations with these long-standing neighbors.
The Governor emphasized that the celebration of the 'State Foundation Day' splendidly reflects the Prime Minister’s vision of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.'
Such exchanges, he noted, have immensely benefited the youth by allowing them to grasp the lifestyles, traditions, and cultures of individuals from other states—experiences that will guide and inspire them as they lead the state and nation in 2047.
He stressed that this initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has genuinely empowered young individuals with an enhanced sense of unity and shared identity.
During the celebration, Naga students from NERIST (North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology) performed 'Ahoh', a heartfelt gospel-folk-fusion song from Nagaland originally created by Jano Nyekha in 2015.
