Bengaluru, Oct 15 (NationPress) In a pointed criticism of Karnataka's Rural Development and IT Minister Priyank Kharge regarding his suggestion to prohibit the activities of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Opposition leader in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, claimed that some Dalits within the Congress have subjugated themselves for the sake of their families.
Speaking at the BJP office in Bengaluru, Narayanaswamy asserted, “In Congress, some Dalits have enslaved themselves to protect their families, while the broader Dalit community remains intentionally impoverished. Certain families within Congress seek to monopolize power, undermining Dalits in other parties to maintain their own positions.”
He further stated, “Priyank Kharge is attempting to divert attention from his failures, including poor infrastructure and the struggles faced by farmers due to weather conditions. His statements seem aimed at garnering publicity.”
Narayanaswamy sarcastically questioned, “Is the RSS anti-Dalit? Did they cast all Dalits into the Arabian Sea?” He referenced Ambedkar’s warning that “the Congress party is a burning house for Dalits; there is no future for you here. Seek your future in other parties.”
Continuing his attack on Kharge, he remarked, “Is there truly no one more qualified than you? Your ministerial position is a result of your father’s influence. What would you have accomplished otherwise? Leaders like Narendraswamy, S.N. Narayanaswamy, Anekal Shivanna, and Prasad Abbayya have won numerous elections but remain sidelined while you rose to ministerial status.”
“You (Priyank Kharge) have held the ministerial role three times only due to Mallikarjun Kharge’s influence. As long as your father maintains his power, you will enjoy influence, as people are wary of him,” Narayanaswamy accused. He claimed that Priyank Kharge has sacrificed senior Dalit leaders like Basavalingappa and K.H. Ranganath’s families for his personal advancement.
“Even today, Dalits are forging their future within the BJP and JD(S). Yet, Congress propagates the narrative that the BJP is a space where no Dalit can thrive. If that’s true, how then have Hon’ble Droupadi Murmu, Hon’ble Thawar Chand Gehlot, and I, Chaluvaadi Narayanaswamy, been able to rise?” he challenged Congress.
“They blame the RSS for instigating the poor, claiming it corrupts their minds. However, the true source of toxicity lies within your ranks, not with the RSS,” Narayanaswamy charged.
He further questioned Minister Priyank Kharge’s identity, stating, “Is there any sign that you represent Dalits? You have oppressed and divided Dalits, only to portray yourself as a victim.”
Narayanaswamy concluded by stating that people are questioning why the wealth amassed in Priyank Kharge’s name as a Dalit is not being utilized for Dalit welfare. “If it had been, all Dalits in Karnataka could have enjoyed a better and equal life,” he remarked.
