Patna, April 3 (NationPress) Deepa Manjhi, the daughter-in-law of Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and spouse of Bihar Minister Santosh Suman, is participating in the esteemed Chaiti Chhath festival in Gaya.

The Imamganj MLA, accompanied by her sister-in-law Rinki Kumari, conducted Kharna Puja in the Mahakar block of Gaya district on Wednesday evening.

On this day, Chhath devotees engage in Kharna Puja, a vital ceremony where prasad consisting of milk, jaggery, and roti is presented to Chhathi Maiya.

Following the puja, devotees initiate a 36-hour Nirjala (waterless) fast, praying for joy, peace, and prosperity for the community.

On Thursday, devotees will offer Arghya to the setting sun as part of the third-day ceremonies, with the festival culminating with Arghya to the rising sun on Friday, followed by Paran (consuming prasad), marking the fast's conclusion.

Throughout Chaiti Chhath, a spirit of devotion and celebration envelops Bihar. Houses and ghats resonate with sacred songs and prayers.

Rivers, ponds, and wells see devotees taking holy dips before preparing pure offerings for the Sun God. Families and friends visit the homes of Chhath Vratis (devotees) to seek blessings and receive prasad during Kharna Puja.

Deepa Manjhi's involvement adds both spiritual and political importance to the festival, showcasing Bihar's rich cultural traditions and faith in Chhathi Maiya.

The Bihar government has undertaken special arrangements to facilitate this grand festival of folk faith. Bihar Police have implemented various measures at Chhath Ghats across all districts.

District officials, particularly district magistrates and police personnel, have been directed to ensure smooth proceedings in their areas.

They have been instructed to remain vigilant during the Arghya on the third and fourth days of the Chhath festival.

Officials have been tasked with ensuring that Chhath Ghats are equipped with safety barricades, lighting, drinking water, toilets, changing rooms, and ongoing cleanliness.
