Significant Improvement in Delhi's Air Quality Post-Rainfall
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 16 (NationPress) The air quality in the National Capital Region (NCR) has shown remarkable improvement following a shift in weather patterns. Thanks to refreshing winds and bright skies, the Air Quality Index (AQI) has risen to 'better' levels in many areas of Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad. This is a welcome relief for local residents, with the AQI recorded in the 'Green' and 'Satisfactory' categories at various sites.
As reported by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and related organizations, the AQI has remained at 'satisfactory' levels across multiple monitoring stations throughout Delhi.
Specific readings include an AQI of 74 in Alipur, 92 in Ashok Vihar, 87 in Aya Nagar, and 86 in Burari Crossing. Additionally, the AQI was 95 at the Commonwealth Sports Complex and 72 at CRRI on Mathura Road.
In contrast, some areas reported slightly elevated levels, such as Bawana (117), the Cantonment Area (116), and Chandni Chowk (117), which fall into the 'Moderate' category.
In Noida, air quality has improved at all four monitoring stations, with an AQI of 70 in Sector-62, 90 in Sector-125, 85 in Sector-1, and 84 in Sector-116—all categorized as 'Satisfactory.'
Ghaziabad also noted a positive shift in air quality, recording an AQI of 80 in Indirapuram, 64 in Sanjay Nagar, and 84 in Vasundhara, all also in the 'Satisfactory' range. However, the Loni area reported an AQI of 133, placing it in the 'Moderate' category.
Moreover, the Meteorological Department forecasts clear conditions for the NCR region.
The seven-day outlook for Noida indicates a minimum temperature of 17 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 27 degrees Celsius as of March 16, with predominantly clear skies expected.
On March 17, temperatures may reach a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius, rising further to 29 degrees Celsius on March 18.
However, the Meteorological Department warns of potential weather changes beginning March 19.
The forecast suggests partly cloudy skies on March 19, with rain or thundershowers possible at a few locations. Light rain and partly cloudy conditions are also expected on March 20, while March 21 may see generally overcast skies with light rainfall.
Experts believe that if the rain and strong winds continue, residents in the Delhi-NCR area could benefit from clean air for the upcoming days.
