New Delhi, Jan 6 (NationPress) BJP representative from Gandhi Nagar, Arvinder Singh Lovely, emphasized on Tuesday the necessity to renovate and rejuvenate the Guru Tegh Bahadur memorial in Delhi, aiming to facilitate annual gatherings that commemorate the Sikh Guru's sacrifices. He commended Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and PM Narendra Modi for acknowledging the sacrifices made by the Sikh Gurus.
During the Assembly's Winter Session, Lovely praised PM Modi and CM Gupta for their deep understanding of the nation’s history and sentiments, as well as for effectively carrying out the celebrations of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s 350th martyrdom day.
Lovely noted that CM Gupta remarked on the capital's “good fortune” to commemorate the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur at the Red Fort. The Delhi government also declared November 25 a public holiday to allow citizens to participate in the celebrations.
The Guru Tegh Bahadur Memorial, located near Singhu Border on G.T. Karnal Road National Highway-1, is currently under the maintenance of Delhi Tourism, but it requires further enhancement, he stated, urging the Chief Minister to consider a revitalization of the sacred site.
Lovely also appreciated PM Modi for giving appropriate homage and acknowledgment in history books to the sacrifices of the Sikh Gurus.
“What moved me profoundly was PM Modi’s instruction to all MPs to travel to all regions of the country and share the martyrdom story of Guru Tegh Bahadur and the sacrifices of Guru Gobind Singh and his sons, along with the importance of commemorating ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ on December 26,” Lovely shared.
“It’s noteworthy that the PM requested the martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur to be observed in places like Sikkim, where Sikh families are scarce,” he added.
BJP MLA from Jangpura, Tarvinder Singh Marwah, also commended the Chief Minister for her steadfastness in organizing the three-day assembly or ‘Gurmat Samagam’ near the Red Fort, even in the wake of a severe terrorist attack just weeks prior to the event.
He lauded PM Modi for emphasizing the values of the Sikh faith and honoring the sacrifices made by the Sikh Gurus.
Earlier, on December 9, 2025, Lovely released a video statement in which the five-time Sikh legislator mentioned, “Throughout my political journey, PM Modi is the first head of government to have granted due recognition to the sacrifices made by the Sikh Gurus.”
Whether it’s the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur or the heroic stories of Guru Gobind Singh and his sons, PM Modi enriches his speeches with insights into Sikh heritage and history. “The purpose of this video is that during the NDA’s meeting, attended by leaders nationwide, PM Modi today spoke about ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ - linked to the sacrifice of the sons of Guru Gobind Singh,” he stated in the video.
Lovely expressed how PM Modi’s appeal to mothers to educate their children about the sacrifices made by the young warriors of the Guru on ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ on December 26 deeply resonated with him.
“For the first time since Independence, a PM has genuinely acknowledged the sacrifices of the Sikh community. I am grateful to him for sharing the authentic history of our nation,” he stated.
The ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ honors the valor of two young Sikh warriors who chose martyrdom over renouncing their faith, even in the face of immense pressure.
