New Delhi, Dec 28 (NationPress) As the Winter Session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly approaches next month, Speaker Vijender Gupta has emphasized the necessity of constructive dialogue, asserting that legislative scrutiny and substantial debate are vital for enhancing democratic governance, according to an official statement released on Sunday.

With discussions anticipated regarding the reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) and audit issues raised in the previous session, the inaugural legislative meeting of 2026, commencing on January 5, holds particular importance in light of the alleged financial discrepancies during the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration and the urgent need to establish accountability for these faults.

Speaker Gupta highlighted the significance of discipline, readiness, and adherence to procedural norms throughout the sessions, expressing optimism that the House would utilize this time effectively to address matters of public concern.

He reiterated the necessity for legislators to leverage the session to obtain clarity from the government and contribute to informed decision-making benefiting the residents of Delhi.

The Special Mentions practice under Rule 280, reinstated by Speaker Gupta after the BJP assumed power, is also expected to be pivotal during this session.

With strict regulations on the number and length of such mentions, these interventions are anticipated to serve as precise instruments for spotlighting governance deficiencies and urgent public issues. The session is set to officially begin on January 5 with Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena's address at 11 a.m., followed by the standard proceedings of the House.
