Delhi BJP Takes Action Against Kharge's 'Snake' Comment
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 7 (NationPress) A group representing the Delhi BJP approached Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha on Tuesday to file a formal complaint against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for comparing the BJP to a venomous snake that ought to be eliminated.
The delegation featured Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, MPs Manoj Tiwari, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, and Kamaljeet Sehrawat, alongside advocate Sanket Gupta and Media Department Head Praveen Shankar Kapoor.
In their complaint to the Police Commissioner, Malhotra and the MPs asserted that during an election rally in Assam, Kharge not only associated the BJP with a poisonous snake but also sought to stir up religious sentiments within the Muslim community.
The BJP's complaint cited Kharge's statement: "It is also mentioned in the Quran that if a snake appears before you while praying, you should halt your prayer and kill it. The BJP and RSS represent that same deadly snake, and today, you must eradicate them."
The Delhi BJP delegation expressed that Kharge's comments are a blatant attempt to incite animosity and violence against the BJP among Muslims, constituting a clear breach of electoral conduct.
Since the Congress's headquarters is in Delhi, they requested that the Police Commissioner acknowledge the speech, file an FIR, and pursue the necessary legal actions, as stated in their announcement.
The Police Commissioner responded by assuring the BJP leaders that appropriate measures would be taken following an investigation.
In a separate update, Delhi BJP's Virendra Sachdeva, representing the citizens of Delhi, commended the Central government's decision to modify previous orders and formalize all 1,511 unauthorized colonies in Delhi, simplifying the process and adopting an "as is, where is" policy.
Sachdeva noted that the announcement made by Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in a press conference, which confirmed that all unauthorized colonies would be regularized based on an "as is, where is" standard, sparked evident joy among over 5 million residents inhabiting these areas.
He highlighted that recognizing the complexities involved in regularizing developed colonies without substantial demolitions, the Prime Minister has provided a significant relief to countless families.
