New Delhi, Nov 11 (NationPress) Tragically, a devastating explosion occurred near Gate No. 1 of Delhi's Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening, resulting in the loss of at least eight lives. Reports indicate that the victims comprise both local residents of the national capital and migrants from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, who were visiting for family or business reasons. Among the deceased was 21-year-old Shivam Jha.

The massive car blast has inflicted immense sorrow on families who have been abruptly deprived of their loved ones.

According to official reports, 14 injured individuals are residents of Delhi, while others include three from Uttar Pradesh and one each from Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

Authorities continue to investigate whether the explosion was the result of a suicide bomber or an explosive device; however, they have confirmed that at least eight people have perished and over 20 others sustained injuries. All victims were promptly transported to LNJP Hospital, located just a few kilometers from the blast site.

The youngest victim has been identified as Shivam Jha from Usmanpur, Delhi, according to a list from LNJP Hospital. The hospital is still treating multiple injured individuals, with some in critical condition.

Identified victims also include 34-year-old Ashok Kumar from Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, and 35-year-old Amar Kataria from Delhi.

Another casualty, Nouman, a resident of Jhijhana in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, lost his life in the blast. He was in Delhi to procure supplies for his cosmetics business.

Mohsin, 35, from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, who had resided in Delhi for several years to support his family, was also killed in the explosion. He was driving a battery-operated e-rickshaw at the time. His grieving family, including a wife, daughter, and young son, has arrived at LNJP Hospital to claim his body as the post-mortem is ongoing.

Another victim, Amar Kataria, a pharmaceutical businessman from Sriniwaspuri, had just closed his pharmacy in Bhagirath Palace, located about six kilometers from the Red Fort, when the explosion occurred.

In response to the incident, Delhi Police have heightened security measures throughout the city. Late Monday night, they detained Mohammad Salman, the registered owner of an i20 car discovered near the scene. He informed investigators that he sold the vehicle to a person named Devendra in Okhla approximately a year and a half ago.

Traffic restrictions and rerouting have been initiated on both lanes and the service road of Netaji Subhash Marg, as per police instructions. These restrictions will be in effect from Chatta Rail Cut to Subhash Marg Cut.

"On 11.11.25, due to exigencies, traffic restrictions & diversions will be in place in both carriageways and service roads of Netaji Subhash Marg from Chatta Rail Cut to Subhash Marg Cut. Commuters are advised to avoid these routes from 06:00 AM until further notice and utilize alternative roads for a smoother journey," the advisory stated.
