New Delhi, Aug 14 (NationPress) In an initiative aimed at decreasing road accidents in Delhi and promoting the habit of wearing helmets among the populace, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta officially inaugurated the “Helmet Wearing Consequences” campaign on Thursday.
During the event held in Central Delhi, the Chief Minister emphasized that the primary goal of this campaign is to not only underscore the significance of helmet usage but also to enlighten citizens on how neglecting to wear one can jeopardize their own safety and that of their loved ones.
The Chief Minister articulated that road safety is not merely an individual obligation but a collective societal responsibility. While wearing a helmet might appear to be a minor action, it can significantly contribute to saving lives.
She noted that in conjunction with strict enforcement of road safety regulations, the Delhi Government is persistently working to raise awareness.
CM Gupta stated that our lives are interconnected with those of our families, communities, and the nation. Therefore, each action must be taken with consideration of its implications for societal welfare.
She further added that while soldiers have the chance to sacrifice for the country, each one of us has the opportunity to live for the nation daily. Adhering to traffic regulations, upholding cleanliness, and performing our duties sincerely are true manifestations of patriotism, she remarked.
The event also saw the presence of Delhi Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Singh and MP Bansuri Swaraj.
Highlighting the critical nature of road safety, the Chief Minister characterized wearing a helmet and obeying traffic rules as significant expressions of patriotism.
She pointed out that accidents can happen unexpectedly, but wearing a helmet and securing its strap is within our control – and this simple habit can be life-saving.
She mentioned that in numerous countries, following rules and maintaining cleanliness is perceived as a patriotic act, and in India, we too should incorporate practices such as obeying traffic laws, preserving cleanliness, planting trees, and caring for public areas into our daily lives.
On the eve of Independence Day, she urged everyone to pledge against wrongdoing, comply with traffic rules, and work with integrity for the benefit of society and the nation.
The Chief Minister called for all citizens to commit to the principles of honesty, safety, and social responsibility so that India can become an exemplary nation in discipline, cleanliness, and safety.
Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Singh remarked that your road safety is primarily in your own hands.
“The objective of the Delhi Government is not solely to enforce regulations but to foster awareness and cultivate habitual road safety practices among citizens,” he stated.
In a personal reflection, Dr. Singh recalled his college days of riding a scooter, mentioning that he survived accidents with minimal injuries only when he wore a helmet.
