New Delhi, Nov 27 (NationPress) Chief Minister Rekha Gupta revealed on Thursday that the Delhi government, in partnership with the Ministry of Finance, will conduct extensive camps enabling every resident to investigate their unclaimed funds and reclaim their money.
This announcement was made during the ‘Aapki Poonji, Aapka Adhikaar’ event at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre, where Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary was also present.
The main goal of this nationwide initiative is to assure citizens that every unclaimed rupee, be it from bank deposits, mutual funds, insurance, shares, or dividends, is completely secure and will only be returned to its legitimate owner.
As part of this initiative, camps will be set up in every district of Delhi. Each camp will feature a dedicated helpdesk, where residents can easily gather information on their unclaimed funds utilizing digital resources, she stated.
Trained personnel will assist each family to guarantee that the entire process is straightforward, accessible, and reliable, she noted.
The Chief Minister expressed that this campaign offers genuine relief and dignity to the middle-class and economically disadvantaged families.
“Funds that have remained unclaimed for years, earned through diligent efforts, are now finally reaching their rightful beneficiaries,” she stated.
Chief Minister Gupta emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi recognized the challenges faced by ordinary families and has facilitated the prompt, transparent, and safe return of this unclaimed wealth to the public.
This initiative has bolstered public trust, and the Central Government has proven, through transparency, technology, and citizen-centric systems, that people’s capital is in trustworthy hands, she remarked.
The Chief Minister pointed out that under the Prime Minister's leadership, the country has experienced unparalleled trust in banking and digital transactions. She noted that while Indians’ saving habits were once limited, measures like zero-balance accounts, digital payments, direct benefit transfer (DBT), and financial inclusion have ensured that banking services are available to every citizen.
She further highlighted that the trust, which previously took years to cultivate, has been significantly enhanced through banking reforms initiated under the Prime Minister’s guidance.
She noted that due to corrupt systems in the past, the benefits of government schemes did not reach the citizens directly; however, now, the entire amount dispatched by the Central Government reaches the intended beneficiary without any leakage.
This transformation has resulted in a historic shift in the Indian economy and the lives of ordinary citizens, she stated, adding that the process of returning unclaimed funds to their rightful owners is not just a scheme but a commitment to strengthening the bond of trust between the government and the populace.
She mentioned that Rs 85 crore has already been restituted to rightful claimants, showcasing the success of this initiative.
