New Delhi, Jan 8 (NationPress) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that Delhi is preparing for a significant temperature drop and harsh weather conditions, with a cold wave expected to impact the national capital in the second week of January.

Temperatures may fall to around 5 degrees Celsius.

On Wednesday, a minimum temperature of 8 degrees Celsius is anticipated, while the maximum temperature is unlikely to exceed 16 degrees Celsius throughout the day.

Simultaneously, the struggle with the degrading Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi-NCR persists, as the city wakes up to an AQI reading of 322 according to the Central Government's Sameer App.

In contrast, other cities in the National Capital Region (NCR) are faring slightly better, reporting AQI levels of 176, 192, 212, 229, and 196 in Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad respectively.

As per the IMD, the forecast predicts minimum and maximum temperatures of 8.05 °C and 21.63 °C, respectively.

The current relative humidity is at 28 percent with a wind speed of 28 km/h. The sky appears clear, offering a pleasant weather outlook as described by the IMD. The sun is expected to rise at 7:15 a.m. and set at 5:40 p.m.

Regarding air quality, the AQI level on Wednesday was 158.0, indicating a moderate status.

Residents are encouraged to stay alert for any local air quality warnings from the IMD, particularly if they have sensitivities to pollution or outdoor activities.

Looking ahead to Thursday (January 9), the IMD projects a minimum temperature of 13.56 °C and a maximum of 22.37 °C for Delhi. Humidity levels are expected to hover around 17 percent, so plan your day based on IMD's predictions.

The AQI in Delhi on Wednesday is recorded at 158.0, indicating moderate air quality.
