New Delhi, Jan 8 (NationPress) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning as Delhi prepares for a drastic temperature decrease along with severe weather as a cold wave is anticipated to strike the national capital in the second week of January.

Temperatures may fall to as low as 5 degrees Celsius.

On Wednesday, the minimum temperature is expected to be 8 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is unlikely to exceed 16 degrees Celsius throughout the day.

At the same time, the Delhi-NCR region continues to struggle with poor air quality, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 322 reported by the Central Government's Sameer App.

Other cities in the National Capital Region (NCR) are faring slightly better, with AQI levels recorded at 176, 192, 212, 229, and 196 in Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad respectively.

The IMD predicts that the minimum and maximum temperatures will be 8.05 °C and 21.63 °C respectively.

Current relative humidity stands at 28 per cent with wind speeds reaching 28 km/h. The sky is clear, providing a pleasant outlook for the day.

Sunrise occurred at 7:15 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:40 p.m.

On Wednesday, the air quality index was noted at 158.0, which falls within the moderate range.

Residents are advised to stay updated on local air quality alerts from the IMD, particularly if they are sensitive to pollution or if they plan to engage in outdoor activities.

Looking forward to Thursday (January 9), the IMD forecasts a minimum temperature of 13.56 °C and a maximum of 22.37 °C for Delhi, with humidity expected to hover around 17 per cent.

Wednesday's weather will feature a clear sky.

As per the IMD, it's wise to structure your day around these comfortable temperature ranges and weather conditions.

The AQI in Delhi on Wednesday indicated a moderate air quality level at 158.0.

Children and individuals with respiratory issues, such as asthma, should limit their time outdoors.
