Govindpuri clash: Shots fired, 3 injured near Asha Kiran Apartment in Delhi
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
At least three people were injured on Thursday, 22 October 2026, after a clash between two groups at Asha Kiran Apartment in Delhi's Govindpuri area escalated into gunfire and stabbing, police officials confirmed. The incident sent panic rippling through the residential locality, with investigators later recovering two empty cartridges and two knives from the site.
What Happened at Govindpuri
Police received a PCR call reporting firing near Asha Kiran Apartment in Govindpuri. Upon reaching the scene, officers found evidence of both firearm use and a knife assault, pointing to a violent confrontation between two distinct groups. The circumstances that triggered the clash are still under investigation.
Condition of the Injured
The three injured have been identified as Sanju Bheshdhari (also known as Kumar Bheshdhari), Mansoor Alam, and Nitin. Bheshdhari sustained a gunshot wound and was admitted to Apollo Hospital. Mansoor Alam, 40, suffered minor injuries and was subsequently discharged. The third victim, Nitin, was taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where the nature of his injuries is still being assessed by doctors.
Investigation Under Way
Delhi Police are working to identify and apprehend the accused. Legal proceedings have been initiated and a formal investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been announced as of Thursday. The recovery of two empty cartridges and two bladed weapons from the scene suggests the confrontation involved both armed and physical violence.
Pattern of Violence in Delhi
This comes amid a broader pattern of gang-linked and neighbourhood violence in the capital. In September, unidentified individuals opened fire outside three houses in Northeast Delhi's Nand Nagri area — specifically in the D-2 Block of the Nand Nagri police station jurisdiction — and vandalised parked vehicles. A local resident, speaking to reporters, said approximately 50 masked individuals had attacked her home. She alleged the dispute dated back seven years and was rooted in a family conflict. 'We know who these people are. A dispute arose seven years ago regarding my daughter. Since then, there has been frequent firing and stone pelting outside my house,' she said. 'Even late on Friday night, three of our houses were attacked. There was firing and stones were pelting. All the family members were upstairs. If we hadn't been upstairs, someone could have lost their life,' she added. Police investigated that scene separately, though no formal connection to the Govindpuri incident has been established. As authorities continue tracing the accused in the Govindpuri case, residents of the area are awaiting swift action.
