New Delhi, March 31 (NationPress) In a rapid response to a murder investigation in Dabri, the Delhi Police reported that the AATS team from Dwarka District apprehended the main suspect, known as Prem Sharma alias Himanshu, near Najafgarh (Kakrola) Nala Road during an encounter on Tuesday.

Acting on actionable intelligence, the police confronted the 21-year-old suspect on Monday night while he attempted to escape on a stolen scooter. Rather than surrender, the suspect reportedly opened fire at the police, firing three shots with the intent to kill.

Authorities indicated that one of the rounds hit the bulletproof vest of Head Constable Sandeep, narrowly avoiding serious injury.

Exercising restraint and acting in self-defense, the police returned fire in a controlled manner. One bullet struck the suspect in his right knee, effectively neutralizing the threat.

Following a brief struggle, the suspect, who has a history of criminal activity including kidnapping and murder, was subdued and taken into custody. A firearm, along with live and spent cartridges, was seized from the scene. The injured suspect was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical care.

On March 29 at approximately 9:23 PM, a PCR call was made to the Dabri police station reporting a stabbing incident near Durga Mata Mandir, Gali No. 1, Madhu Vihar in Delhi. The caller informed authorities that an unidentified individual had been attacked with a knife.

Police teams quickly arrived at the location opposite the temple in Madhu Vihar, where they discovered that a good Samaritan had already transported the injured person to a hospital.

The Crime Team and Mobile Forensic Unit were subsequently summoned to examine the scene and gather evidence.

In the early hours of March 30, around 12:08 AM, the victim, identified as Govind Jha, aged 39, succumbed to his injuries at Akash Hospital in Dwarka Sector-3.

Earlier that day, another suspect related to the Dabri stabbing was injured during a police operation in Sector 17, Dwarka.

During the ongoing search for suspects involved in the stabbing incident, which resulted in one fatality and three others in critical condition, police gathered leads through human intelligence.

Based on these insights, a suspect, identified as Rohit Kumar alias Noddy, 21, a resident of Madhu Vihar, Dabri, was located by a Special Staff team behind a sports complex in Sector 17, Dwarka.

When police instructed him to surrender, the suspect allegedly fired upon them. Officials reported that one bullet nearly missed Head Constable Jagat Singh.

Despite being warned, the suspect discharged three rounds at the police. In response, officers again exercised restraint and returned fire in self-defense.

One bullet hit Rohit Kumar in his left knee, after which he was subdued and arrested following a short struggle. Police recovered a 7.65 mm pistol loaded with one live cartridge and three spent cartridges from him.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Authorities stated that a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act has been registered at the Dwarka North police station, and further inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
