New Delhi, June 4 (NationPress) A shooter associated with the Himanshu @Bhau gang was apprehended following a brief shootout with a unit of the Delhi Police's special cell in the Rohini locality.
The suspect has been identified as Deepak Dhankar, a 23-year-old from Madina Gindhran village, located in Rohtak, Haryana.
Dhankar was taken into custody on Tuesday in connection with the killing of 47-year-old Anil Kumar (the uncle of rival gangster Sunny @ Baba Gang).
On June 3, acting on intelligence, police learned that Dhankar would be in the UER-II, Rohini Sector 35 area to rendezvous with associates, prompting a police team led by Inspector Sandeep Dabas to set up a trap.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., the officers spotted the suspect and ordered him to surrender. Instead, he opened fire, discharging three rounds at the police, who returned fire, resulting in Dhankar being hit in the right knee.
The police subsequently subdued Dhankar and transported him to BSA Hospital in Rohini.
Authorities recovered an illegal pistol loaded with three rounds and a motorcycle from his possession, as per a police statement.
Upon investigation, the motorcycle was discovered to be stolen from the Ghazipur Police Station.
