Delhi L-G Recognizes DDA Officials for Their Contributions to the G20 Summit

New Delhi, Dec 17 (NationPress) In a gesture of appreciation, Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena on Tuesday acknowledged the vital contributions of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) towards the comprehensive growth of the city by honoring its officials for their efforts during the successful organization of the G20 Summit held last year.

During his first visit to the DDA Head Office since assuming the role of Chairman of the DDA, L-G Saxena emphasized the outstanding achievements made by the Authority that have significantly improved its public perception.

Key accomplishments include preparing the city to welcome international dignitaries for the G20 Summit, revitalizing the Yamuna River, establishing recreational green areas like Baansera and Asita for community use, and restoring important historical sites such as Vasudev Ghat, Mehrauli Archaeological Park, and St. James Church.

Baansera, situated at Sarai Kale Khan on the western bank of the Yamuna, represents the Capital’s inaugural bamboo-themed public space. Spanning approximately 12-15 hectares, Baansera is part of the 163 hectares encompassed by the Kalindi Aviral project, aimed at restoring and rejuvenating the floodplains of the Yamuna.

The L-G also inaugurated the DDA’s Housing kiosk at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station via remote access, providing assistance to prospective home buyers.

He presented appreciation certificates to DDA officials whose dedication and hard work were pivotal in the successful execution of the G20 Summit.

On this occasion, the L-G paid a floral tribute to M. Visvesvaraya at the DDA office, Vikas Sadan.

He encouraged the DDA team to focus on enhancing public benefit by creating spaces that prioritize convenience, improve amenities, and modernize Delhi’s infrastructure, including the development of villages under the Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan.

Stressing the significance of sustainability, he urged for the creation of more green areas to contribute to a greener and more vibrant city.

He commended DDA staff for organizing PM Uday camps on weekends, stating, “This has fostered a positive environment, attracting thousands seeking ownership rights for their properties in unauthorized colonies of Delhi.”
