Bengaluru, Aug 13 (NationPress) Karnataka's PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi, accompanied by key leaders, extended support to former minister K.N. Rajanna, who was recently ousted from the cabinet due to his comments on the voter fraud protest. This meeting took place on Wednesday in Bengaluru.
Both Jarkiholi and Rajanna share a close association with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Post-meeting, Jarkiholi conveyed to journalists, “When power diminishes, people tend to distance themselves. However, we are here to emphasize our solidarity with Rajanna. There appears to be a misunderstanding from the Delhi leadership, and we will work to clarify this.”
He further remarked, “Having served as a minister for two years, Rajanna deserves recognition. We will travel to Delhi to engage with the high command. A leader from the Valmiki community should be reinstated in Rajanna's previous cabinet role. Ultimately, the high command will decide on Rajanna's return to the cabinet.”
He stressed, “Two leaders from the Valmiki community have lost their cabinet positions. We will advocate for their reinstatement.”
When asked, Jarkiholi indicated that Rajanna should clarify the reasons behind his removal.
“This is not uncommon; Rajanna has suggested that there’s a conspiracy involved in his ousting,” he stated.
In contrast, BJP leader and former minister B. Sriramulu publicly invited Rajanna to join the BJP.
“We welcome Rajanna to our party. The entire community will rally behind him. Rajanna, bring your son, Congress MLC Rajendra Rajanna, and join us. We promise to honor you even more in our party,” Sriramulu urged.
Meanwhile, numerous supporters of Rajanna congregated in front of the Town Hall in Tumakuru city, staging a rally to protest his removal by the Congress party. The demonstrators displayed photographs and posters of Rajanna and chanted slogans in his support.
They later submitted a request to the Deputy Commissioner, urging Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to reinstate Rajanna in the cabinet.
Sources reveal that Rajanna has opted for a measured approach while plotting his next steps. As a close ally of CM Siddaramaiah, he has been advised to refrain from hasty actions or statements that could be detrimental. Rajanna is expected to wait for the appropriate moment, particularly until the Bihar elections conclude.
Rajanna, the former State Cooperation Minister, was asked to resign after his comments regarding the Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi's press conference in Delhi and the protest in Bengaluru about voter fraud. “If there was indeed voter fraud, Congress should have raised this issue much earlier,” he remarked.
