Delhi stabbing: Man killed in revenge attack at Kalindi Kunj, 3 arrested
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
A man was allegedly stabbed to death in southeast Delhi's Kalindi Kunj area on 15 October 2026 in what police believe was a premeditated revenge killing rooted in a jail rivalry. Three accused have been arrested so far, with further investigation underway.
Who Was the Victim
The deceased has been identified as Shahid Hussain, a resident of Abul Fazal Enclave-II in Shaheen Bagh. He was transported to Apollo Hospital by Constable Avdesh of Kalindi Kunj police station, where a medico-legal certificate issued at 5.32 pm confirmed he was brought dead.
How the Attack Unfolded
According to the preliminary account shared with police, Hussain had gone to meet Shabid Malik, also known as Monu, a resident of Madanpur Khadar, at a restaurant in Basantpur, Haryana, where the two allegedly consumed beer. On his return journey aboard a scooter, Hussain was allegedly intercepted by four men riding a black Splendor motorcycle with silver stripes, who stabbed him before fleeing. Police reached Shriram Chowk after Head Constable Manish alerted the duty officer. An abandoned scooter with bloodstains nearby was recovered at the scene.
Arrests and the Alleged Conspiracy
Shabid Malik was detained for questioning. Police subsequently apprehended Karan alias Karam Shah, 21, a resident of JJ Colony in Madanpur Khadar, near Samosa Chowk. Investigators noted that Karan had allegedly been riding the motorcycle and had sustained a stab injury to his left leg during the attack, according to the police account.
During questioning, Karan allegedly told investigators that the murder was planned to avenge an earlier rivalry between Hussain — also known as Chhota Chor — and Tarun alias Ranjan, who had reportedly been injured by Hussain while both were in jail. Tarun allegedly feared Hussain would target him after his release and, according to police, planned with Shabid to lure Hussain to a beer outing before attacking him on his way back.
Police have also named Gaurav Gumma, Aman, and Raja as alleged participants in the conspiracy. Abuzar alias Sonu, 27, allegedly provided the newly purchased Splendor motorcycle used in the crime.
What Happens Next
The three arrested accused are to be produced before a judicial magistrate, with investigators set to seek four days of police custody remand. The broader conspiracy, including the roles of the other named suspects, remains under investigation. This case adds to a pattern of targeted killings in Delhi linked to pre-existing criminal rivalries — underscoring persistent concerns about gang-related violence originating within the prison system.
