New Delhi, April 7 (NationPress) On Tuesday, the Delhi Police apprehended two individuals linked to an online illegal liquor delivery ring that was functioning via logistics services in West Delhi. The operation was executed by a specialized team from the Paschim Vihar East police station.

Authorities reported seizing 800 quarters of illicit liquor along with a three-wheeler tempo utilized for its transport. The suspects have been identified as Sameer Paliwal (19) from Prem Nagar, Delhi, and Pushpender (22) from Bahadurgarh, Haryana.

This operation commenced on April 5, after Head Constable Rakesh received actionable intelligence about the transportation of illegal liquor from Haryana to Delhi via online delivery services near Peeragarhi Chowk. The information was swiftly verified and confirmed to be legitimate.

A dedicated task force, including HC Manjeet, HC Rakesh, and Constable Ankit, was assembled under the leadership of Inspector Rajpal, the SHO of Paschim Vihar East, and under the close oversight of ACP Rajbir Singh Lamba.

The team quickly set a trap at Peeragarhi Chowk. While monitoring the area, they spotted a suspicious three-wheeler tempo. Upon seeing the police, the driver attempted to evade capture by accelerating. However, alert officers successfully intercepted the tempo and detained the driver, identified as Pushpender.

Upon inspection, authorities discovered the vehicle was carrying 16 cartons containing 800 quarters of illicit liquor, marked “For Sale in Haryana Only.” An FIR No. 91/2026 was filed at the Paschim Vihar East police station under the pertinent sections of the Delhi Excise Act.

During rigorous questioning, it was uncovered that the online booking for the shipment had been conducted by Sameer Paliwal for distribution to local bootleggers in Delhi. Acting on this information, the police apprehended Sameer nearby.

Further investigations revealed that the accused had been engaged in this illegal activity for the past two months, misusing online logistics platforms to procure liquor from L-1 licensed vendors in Bahadurgarh, Haryana, and supplying it to bootleggers in Delhi.

Authorities confirmed the arrests of both the driver and the individual who arranged the shipment. The three-wheeler used in the operation has also been confiscated. The recovered items include 800 quarters of illegal liquor and the transportation vehicle. Ongoing investigations are currently in progress.

Point of View

This incident underscores the urgent need to regulate online logistics services more effectively. The rising trend of illegal liquor delivery not only poses public health risks but also challenges law enforcement agencies to adapt to new criminal methodologies. A comprehensive strategy is required to combat such illicit activities.
